PEACE Bytes invites you
to join them at their official launch on Thursday, 16th August from 1pm
in Moville & District Family
Resource Centre at James’s Street, Moville.
The Peace Bytes initiative is a new cross community
programme for young people in Derry/Londonderry,
Newtownabbey and East Inishowen.
Funded through the European Union’s PEACE IV
Programme and the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB),
the aim is to provide support and training for marginalised young people across all communities.
Through the project’s unique use of Creative ICT - developed over 25 years of experience -
alongside standard and creative youth work
methodologies, Peace Bytes aims to address barriers to
positive, physical and mental well being, providing
support to help young people become community
leaders and promote peace and reconciliation in
their local community.
The project provides a safe environment for participants to
express themselves and opportunities to meet with
their peers from across community divides, finding
common ground and learning from each other.
Young people, aged 14 to 25, who complete the
programme receive a minimum of 3 OCN qualifications.
In addition, Peace Bytes provide childcare and transport when
required, as well as a financial incentive for those
who are eligible.
On Thursday, 16th August, Peace Bytes will be
celebrating the initiative’s official launch at a
series of events at their centres, where work from
the
first cohort of participants will be on display and
information will be provided about the delivery of the
project over the next four years.
