DONEGAL County Council
and the Donegal Local Community Development
Committee (LCDC) are inviting applications for a
programme which provides funding to communities in
Ireland. The Minister for Rural and Community
Development, Mr. Michael Ring TD, announced the
launch of the 2019 Community Enhancement Programme (CEP)
with initial funding of €4.5 million nationally.
The CEP was launched for the first time in 2018 and
funded 145 projects across County Donegal. The fund
for Donegal in 2019 will be €159,461 and will be
managed by the LCDC. Two grants are available, a
small scale capital grant of between €500-€1,000 and
a large capital grant of between €7,000 - €21,892.
Minister Ring said: "This new programme provides
vital support to community groups in order to help
them improve their facilities. It supports
small-scale funding for projects which range from
purchasing lawnmowers and IT equipment to minor
renovations to buildings. Ultimately the programme
responds to local needs and also provides funding
towards larger projects".
Clr Martin McDermott, Chairperson of Donegal LCDC,
encouraged local communities to apply and stated
that "This programme allows community groups to
carry out the invaluable work they do on behalf of
others in local areas throughout the county. The
impact of the Community Enhancement Programme is
considerable. Typical enhancements under the
programme last year included the purchase of
equipment or materials, improvements to public areas
in towns and villages, CCTV equipment,
defibrillators and energy efficiency type projects."
Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm
on Thursday, 30 May, 2019. For further details and
