Streak
16.04.19
TWO Inishowen women
appeared on the TV game show Winning Streak last
Saturday, April 13th, and won a combined haul of
€93,000.
Sarah McCarron from Clonmany bagged herself a cool
€48,000 (including a holiday to Madeira) while St
Johnston woman, Kathleen Coyle won €45,000 when her
niece’s husband, Christopher Boyce, played in her
place. |

Sarah McCarron said
that the news of her getting to play on Winning
Streak had the whole of Clonmany buzzing last week.
She admitted to being overwhelmed by the good wishes
from all her friends and neighbours and says her
phone hasn’t stopped ringing since. For the past 10
years, she has worked in the local pharmacy and is
well known in the area.
Sarah has been married to Terence for 24 years and
they have three children, Ciaran (21), Sean (17) and
Clare (19). It was her son Ciaran who she had to
thank for her good luck as he bought her
the winning scratch card for Mother’s Day.
The family were all excited ahead of their mum’s
Winning Streak appearance, along with Sarah’s
parents Paddy and Rose and her sister Anne. Her two
brothers, Michael and Don McGonagle, who run the
Ballyliffin Hotel weren’t able to make it but
watched the show, along with a crowd of locals at
the hotel. |

Kathleen Coyle from St
Johnston had just returned from mass last Saturday
evening when her phone rang and her niece told her
she had been pulled out of the Winning Streak drum.
She quickly turned on the television and watched the
last few minutes of the show, unable to believe the
good news, until she saw her name at the end credits
of the programme.
Kathleen then set about selecting who would play in
her place. She is very close to her niece Annette and decided that Annette’s
husband Christopher Boyce would be the man for the
job.
Christopher was more than happy to do it and
certainly did her proud by winning her €45,000 in
cash. |
