FINN Harps Football
Club have again teamed up with Donegal County
Council to help promote road safety in the county as
the Road Safety Art Competition was officially
launched on Tuesday at Scoil an Linbh Iosa in
Carrigans.
The club has offered the Donegal Road Safety Working
Group a free advertising hoarding in Finn Park to
raise awareness about the dangers on our roads.
The road safety advertising hoarding will be
designed by a student from one of the county’s
national schools through the open art competition.
Finn Harps returns to the Premier Division this
season and the winner of the art competition will be
announced at Finn Harps first home game of the new
season against the current premier league champions
and FAI Cup winners Dundalk, at Finn Park on Friday,
22nd February, 2019. |

Cllr. Seamus O

efforts of Finn Harps Football Club to help us
promote greater awareness of the dangers on our
roads. The competition will help raise awareness,
change behaviour and influence their parents about
road safety and it will be an excellent reward for
the winner to have their work displayed in Finn Park
for the forthcoming season for all to see.”
Speaking at the launch, Brian O’Donnell, Road Safety
Officer said, “We are delighted with the continued
efforts of Finn Harps Football Club to help us
promote greater awareness of the dangers on our
roads. The art competition is aimed at encouraging
children to express their thoughts on responsible
road safety behaviour. We hope that getting children
involved at an early stage will assist in
establishing responsible road behaviour at a young
age. Communicating road safety messages as seen or
expressed by children through posters or other means
can influence the behaviour of parents and family
members”.
Entries must be original and the applicant’s own
work and should be on paper no larger than A3 size.
Details are currently being sent to all primary
schools in the county.
Information on the competition can be obtained from
Brian O’Donnell, Donegal County Council on 074 91

The closing date for the competition is 31st January
2019 and entries should be sent through the school
