Veterans for Peace walk to Malin Head 23.09.19

TWO US military veterans will be marching through Inishowen, from 22 to 27 September, as part of their Boots on the Ground for Freedom protest against US military troops passing through Shannon Airport.
The ‘Veterans for Peace’, Ken Mayers (82) and Tarak Kauff (77), are walking from Limerick to Malin Head.

Ken and Tarak were arrested at Shannon airport on St Patrick's day last while attempting to search and investigate an aircraft on contract to the US military and carrying armed soldiers to war zones in the Middle East and began their walk for freedom from Limerick Prison on 7th September.
A spokesperson said “The Walk for Freedom is about Tarak and Ken’s freedom to return home to their families, freedom from war, and the freedom to respect and affirm a strong and peaceful Irish neutrality. Join us to see them on their way as they walk for freedom.”

On Sunday, 22nd September, they walked from Burt to Bridgend accompanied by members of the local Extinction Rebellion group and peace activists from both sides of the border, including long standing peace activist Eamonn McCann.
They will be leaving Buncrana on Tuesday, 24th September, intending to arrive at the "Eire" stone sign (which signalled our neutrality in WW2) at Malin Head on Thursday, 26 September.
