Two new flights from Derry  03.03.10

AER Arann has announced a major expansion at City of Derry Airport with two new direct flights to Manchester and Edinburgh beginning in May.
The routes will be a boost for the tourism industry, students and people with relatives living in the two cities. Aer Arann's Derry-Dublin service will also depart at an earlier time of 7.40am arriving in Dublin at 8.30am to facilitate people working in the city or making other connections at Dublin Airport.
The new Manchester and Edinburgh routes and changes to the Dublin service will begin on May 20, 2010. Manchester and Edinburgh fares will start from £36 one-way including taxes while the Dublin service starts from £31.99 one-way including taxes. The Manchester service will operate seven days per while the Edinburgh service will operate six days per week. The Dublin service remains a double daily service operating seven days per week.
Aer Arann corporate affairs director Andrew Kelly said:

Mayor of Derry, Councillor Paul Fleming also welcomed the increase in direct services.
“The addition of these new routes is a welcome addition to our existing range of destinations. We have an excellent working relationship with Aer Arann, who provide our daily Dublin service, and look forward to working with them to deliver a successful service to Manchester and Edinburgh," said Cllr Fleming.
Meanwhile, City of Derry Airport committee chairman Cllr Colum Eastwood said access to Manchester and Edinburgh "was vitally important to the North West's regional business and tourism economy".
“The link with Derry to the cities of Manchester and Edinburgh is vitally important to our passengers who can now avail of connections to worldwide destinations from their local airport,” he said.
