AN Inishowen school is
to get a broadband service as good as that used by US
multinationals in Ireland.
Carndonagh Community School will join Loreto
Convent, Pobalscoil Chloic Cheannfhaola, St. Eunan’s
College in Letterkenny, Loreto Community School in
Milford, St. Columba's College, Stranorlar, Coláiste
Phobail Cholmcille on Tory Island and Gairmscoil
Mhic Diarmada in Arranmore, in getting access to the
€13m nationwide programme.
Senator Cecilia Keaveney said the Government's
Broadband to Schools Scheme would provide 100
megabit high-speed fibre and wireless broadband.
“This will make a major difference to the schools in
question. The broadband speeds that will be
available to these schools are the equivalent to the
speeds on offer in multinational corporations here.
“As our economy becomes more high tech it is vital
that students are confident in their use of
technology and having these extra facilities at
school will assist. I’m delighted that these schools
will be able to benefit from the Broadband to
Schools Scheme and I look forward to all other
Donegal schools receiving broadband under this
programme during the next two years,” said Senator
Keaveney. |
