They said they felt
their case had been endorsed by Judge Seamus Hughes
in his remarks to the court on reopening day.
"The judge spoke of the importance of the local
courthouse to rural communities such as North
Inishowen and the effect on business and the
socio-economic life of the region.
"Carndonagh Development are, however, disappointed
at the level of refurbishment done to the courthouse
and our dissatisfaction was put directly to the
Minister responsible, Martin Mansergh, at our recent
meeting in Buncrana.
"Minister Mansergh visited the courthouse and saw
for himself that much work remains to be done. While
stating that finding the finance to complete the
project is currently difficult the Minister did
indicate that the remaining work could be done over
a period of time.
"Carndonagh Development will therefore continue to
press the OPW and the Courts Service to have the
inadequacies addressed as soon as possible." |
