DONEGAL County Council
is to carry out a safety review at a busy junction
in Carndonagh.
The review will take place at the junction of Church
Road and Bridge Street with Station Road.
Local councillor, Charlie McConalogue said the move
was in response to fears about public safety.
“This has been an area of concern for a while now
and there are serious concerns for pedestrian safety
primarily but also in terms of improving traffic
flow.
“Having been working with Council staff on this
issue, I am pleased to confirm that the Council’s
road design team will examine the junction both in
terms of pedestrian safety and traffic flow."
Problems have arisen due to an increase in traffic
volume on Church Road at school times, leading to
long queues of traffic on Station Road.
The Gleneely-based councillor added: “I am committed
to continuing to work with Council staff to ensure
that there is a successful outcome for pedestrians
and motorists alike but public safety is paramount." |
