THE Culture Company set
up to deliver the City of Culture 2013 programme in
Derry has commenced recruitment for its
non-executive directors and chairperson as well as a
full-time director.
Declan McGonagle, interim chair of the Culture
Company board explained the importance of the
development: “The City made a commitment to resource
an exceptional range of activity for its cultural
year in 2013. The recruitment of staff and board
members is part of this commitment to help progress
and deliver our ambitions for a successful year.”
Culture Company 2013 is seeking six directors
appointed in open competition (including the chair)
to contribute experience in cultural leadership,
broadcasting and digital media, business leadership,
community engagement, social and economic
regeneration, tourism and international connections.
The director position will focus upon developing the
organisation, delivering ambitious and
transformative programmes and partnership working.
Mr McGonagle added: “There is already substantial
body of work already underway since winning the UK
City of Culture 2013 title earlier this year. Board
members and the Director will be working with a very
committed city team to ensure the legacy of high
quality cultural experience, community reach,
cultural regeneration and job creation. We’ve
already established successful partnership links
locally and internationally. The recent example of
partnership working through the Tate to bring the
Turner Prize to the city for 2013 is an indication
of the potential that exists.” Closing date for
applications is January 7, 2011 with full details
