Golfers boost diabetes research 05.07.10

THE Western Health and Social Care Trust has been presented with €1,500 by the North West Golf Club in Buncrana to support ongoing research into diabetes.
The money was raised through a golf tournament organised by the club's lady captain, Anne O’Neill. Each year the new lady captain chooses a charity to support and a golf competition is held to help raise funds. Anne explained: “This year I nominated diabetes research as I developed gestational diabetes almost 20 years ago and have been insulin dependent for 16 years. For me it is important that the monies be utilised locally to help improve the prospects of the increasing numbers of diabetic patients in the Western area.”
