Make your holiday home pay
18.05.10
INISHOWEN holiday home
owners could earn up to €12,000 a year if they
market their property online, says the owner of
Donegal Cottage Holidays.
Brian Deeney yesterday launched a marketing guide,
'Marketing Your Irish Holiday Property' to give
owners an insight into letting their properties
successfully.
Brian set up Donegal Cottage Holidays in 2002 and
developed all the content himself over the following
seven years.
“I realised that in order to be successful in
letting my own holiday home, I needed to be highly
placed in search engines like Google,” says Brian.
“So I keep the site up to date with fresh content
and good quality photos and this continues to work
really well.”
His website now has 500 holiday homes registered
including 130 in Inishowen.
The fact that Brian now makes a full-time income
sees him join the ranks of the North West’s growing
number of digital entrepreneurs. |

In the seven years
since starting the website, Brian has gained
valuable experience and some of the holiday home
owners who joined him at the start are still with
him today.
Now he wants to share his experience by including
lots of relevant and up-to-date advice in his new
marketing guide for holiday home owners.
'Marketing Your Irish Holiday Property' advises
holiday home owners on how to identify their
potential customers, and on how to tailor their
message to appeal to various types of visitors, such
as families, walkers, business people and shoppers.
The guide has been co-produced by Mark Nagurski and
outlines how owners should target these people,
particularly by using the low-cost and effective
medium of online marketing. The guide is being
distributed free of charge and can be
downloaded here .
