A car salesman has been
returned for trial charged in connection with an
incident in which gardai were allegedly threatened
with a handgun as they broke up a row outside a pub
in Inishowen.
John Moran (52) of Serpentine Avenue, Newtownabbey,
Co Antrim, is charged with the unlawful possession
of a firearm and ammunition outside the Orchard Bar,
Gleneely, Carndonagh, on April 5, last.
He appeared at the reopened Carndonagh District
Court on Tuesday where he was served with a book of
evidence in relation to the firearm charge and a
number of related charges including a threat to kill
and public disorder. The defendant is pleading not
guilty to the charges. Judge Seamus Hughes put the
accused on notice that he should notify the
prosecution within fourteen days, if he intended
using an alibi as part of his defence. He was sent
forward for trial to Letterkenny Circuit Court on
February 1, 2011. |
