CLONMANY man John Francis Doherty will be attempting
to swim the three miles between Glashedy Island into
Tullagh Point on August 7 to raise funds for the
Irish Kidney Association.
John will be doing his swim as part of the Clonmany
Festival and his motivation stems from the fact his
father Patsy received a kidney transplant over six
years ago.
John said: “I am in training at the minute and just
this morning I was in the pool doing a mile and a
quarter.
“I have also been in the Irish Sea so I am slowly
but surely building up for August.”
John said he does not anticipate any problems with
the tide during the swim. He said: “I think it
should take me about two and a half hours to
complete the swim. |
