Moville tunes up for trad 07.02.10
MOVILLE is tuning up
for a traditional music festival at the end of the
month. Traditional and folk music lovers can look
forward to a great weekend of craic and tunes in the
pubs from February 26 to February 28. |
A number of watering
holes in the town are hosting the festival and the
line-up will include popular local musician Paddy
McLaughlin who keeps the tradition going in the
Foyleside town.
Festival-goers can also look forward to a couple of
gigs by Moville fiddle player, Clodagh Warnock and
friends. |
|
Clodagh is formerly of
the band Deanta which played throughout the 1990s
and signed to music label Green Linnet. They
released three well-received albums |
|
Although they were one
of Green Linnet's best-selling acts, each musician
held down a day job. Clodagh, a dentist, is married
and lives with her husband and young children in
Moville.
She is currently organising a number of sessions for
the Moville Trad Fest to include top Inishowen
fiddle player Roisin McGrory and Ted Ponsonby who
has recorded and played with many leading artists
including Mary Black, EmmyLou Harris and Van
Morrison. Ponsonby plays guitar, dobro |
and Hammond organ.
The pubs involved in this year's festival are
Rosato's, Rawdon's, Bar-A-Cuda and the local hotel
Caiseal Mara. |
