Submissions sought on Moville 20.04.10

THE people of Moville are being urged to have their say on the future of their town.
Donegal County Council is about to commence its focus on the seaside town as part of the new County Development Plan.
Inishowen Councillor Pádraig MacLochlainn has been informed that the Council will begin taking formal submissions from the local community from July this year but initial submissions can be made straight away.
Cllr MacLochlainn said he secured a focus on Moville's needs in a meeting last year with the then director of planning services, Francie Coyle.
He also tabled a motion to Council and made repeated representations at local authority monthly meetings.
Bath Green, Moville Cllr MacLochlainn said: "This is an important breakthrough for the people of Moville. It has been a long time since the town has had a statutory plan based focus. Town plans are so important in that they provide an agreed framework for a community to build into the future.
"Moville has suffered
economically over recent times but its strength, as always, is its people and its community spirit. This town plan is a unique opportunity for all to come together and have a say on what needs to be done."
Businesses, community groups, sporting organisations and the people of Moville have been urged to immediately make their initial submissions to Gerry Richards of the Central Planning Unit at the Carndonagh Public Service Centre on 0749373700. They can then prepare their formal submissions for July.
"This is your plan and we need to get it right for you," added Cllr MacLochlainn.
