‘I'm not leaving Redcastle’

REDCASTLE United boss
Brian Bell has quashed rumours that he is set to
leave the club in the summer.
The most successful Inishowen League manager in
recent decades, Bell, who has just guided his team
to back-to-back titles, will be back to lead the
charge for three-in-a-row next season.
“I will not be leaving Redcastle, fullstop. I am
very happy here and I will be back to manage the
team next season. We lost a great man in Phillip
Lafferty this year and I hope to work on to fulfill
his dreams,” Bell said.
Paying tribute to his team, Bell said he was ‘over
the moon’ to have secured a fifth title in six years
for Redcastle.
“The team has evolved over the years to become the
best. What was once a limited underage structure at
the club is now thriving. I am not an easy man to
please but the players have worked really hard for
this success,” he said. |
“Many have played
through the pain barrier, taking injections and
postponing operations. It takes all sorts of players
to win the league and that’s what we have at
Redcastle.”
Bell reserved special praise for his assistant
manager, Martin Rea, who, he said, was a breath of
fresh air at the club.
“I’ve really enjoyed what Martin has brought to
Redcastle. He has been a massive signing for us. He
has really taken the pressure off me,” he said.
“Martin is a steely determined character who is even
more analytical than me and that’s saying something!
He took our losses even worse than the players or
me.” |

Redcastle physio, Liam
Davenport, also came in for praise from Bell for
performing ‘miracles’ to get key players fit for
crucial clashes.
Looking back on the season the Redcastle manager
said the 0-0 draw against QPS, when only seven fit
players were available, was one of the ‘most
pleasing’ results of the season.
He also pointed to the 6-0 drubbing of Glengad as
one of Redcastle’s best displays of another
successful year.
Bell also paid tribute to underage coaches, Micky
Breslin, Cathal Faulkner and Mervin and Liam Breslin.
Looking ahead to next season, Bell said his team
will be equally as strong or even stronger as they
bid to re-write the local soccer annals yet again.
Few would bet against Redcastle making it
three-in-a-row in 2011. |
