Philip lifts Captain’s Prize 19.08.10

MOVILLE man Philip Farren has said he is ‘delighted’ to have won the Captain’s Prize at Greencastle Golf Club.
Philip came out ahead in the competition held on Saturday August 7, that saw around 170 golfers take to the fairways to compete for what is one of the most prestigious prizes in any golf club.
Speaking after his win Philip said: “Of course I am pleased to have won the prize. I have never won anything like the Captain’s Prize before this so it was a good one to win.

“I have been a golfer for many years now and play regularly at Greencastle so to win the Captain’s Prize there was good.”
Philip won Paul O’Doherty’s prize (this year’s captain) by a three-stroke margin.
He stood on the last tee with a 39, unaware that the best clubhouse score was 40 and proceeded to birdie the 18th for four points.
Her also had six pars on the back nine as well as that birdie, covering those holes in one over par.
