COLAISTI Inis Eoghain has
been given a boost ahead of tomorrow’s first ever
Ranafast Cup match. Texaco Ireland has announced that
the Inishowen GAA board is to receive a €5,000 sport
stars bursary.
The board is one of 25 recipients across the country and
the bursary will be used to fund the participation in
Ulster Colleges football competition over the coming
years. Inishowen Board chairman Gerard Callaghan
described it as a tremendous boost to the board’s
efforts to improve the standard of Gaelic football in
the peninsula.
“Entering a combined schools team in the Ulster Colleges
is a major undertaking for the board and we are
delighted that the Texaco judges have granted us this
recognition,” Mr Callaghan said. “We have been blessed
by generous sponsorship from Canny Doherty SuperValu in
Carn and Healthwise Pharmacies, and additional
recognition and money from Texaco is simply the icing on
the cake.”
Representatives of the board will travel to Dublin at
the end of the month to attend an official reception
with the other recipeints from all over Ireland.
Meanwhile, tomorrow’s U16 match between Colaisti Inis
Eoghain and Enniskillen has been confirmed for Hibernian
Park in Burt and has a 3.15pm throw-in. The team, which
is managed by Sean Clerkin, trained in Burt on Tuesday.
