INISHOWEN has some of
the most spectacular scenery in the country but is a
‘pure secret to tourism’, a film director working
here last week has claimed.
Michael Bracken, a film producer/director based in
Mullingar, was in Inishowen to shoot a music video
for ‘The Three Amigos’ - singers Jimmy Buckley,
Robert Mizzell and Patrick Feeney.
The video was shot at Dunree Fort,
the Five Finger Strand, Mamore Gap and other parts
of the county.
Michael said he could not speak highly enough of the
hospitality and assistance he had received in the
area but added that Inishowen was a ‘well kept
secret’ as regards the wider community.
Michael said: “I have been coming here for about 20
years and I have to say that as regards tourism,
Inishowen is vastly under marketed.
“We are based in Mullingar and when I talked to
people about coming to Inishowen they had no idea
where I was talking about.
“Everyone has heard of Letterkenny and the likes of
Donegal Town but the Mamore Gap means nothing to
them.
“The scenery here is spectacular but the area needs
to be marketed so that people know. Anyone coming to
Donegal should leave at least three days to visit
Inishowen.” |
