Big hearts, empty bellies...
08.03.10
IT was strictly tea, no
sugar and definitely no sweets for a group of
mothers and staff from Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail last
Thursday.
The women were 'Giving it up for Trócaire', as part
of a 24-hour fast to support the charity’s Lenten
campaign for Bolivia.
“We thought it might be easier if we did it
together,” said organisers Trish Hegarty and Breedge
Reynolds. Trish and Breedge took the 24-hour fast,
along with school principal Alicia Nic Fhearáin and
mothers Tina Gormley, Kathy Doherty, Teresa Gillen,
Teresa McGuinness, Sarah Frizzell and teacher
Gráinne Nic Robhartaigh. Remaining group member,
Irene McLaughlin, was on duty as a nurse and because
she could not fast, instead gave up her passion,
music, for a day. |

The group were
delighted to get a message of support from
well-known local sponsor of the Trócaire campaign –
Irish goalie Shay Given.
The Lifford-born 'keeper said: "I'm pleased to hear
that the Trocaire Fast is strongly supported in my
home county of Donegal and wish Gaelscoil Cois
Feabhail well this year in their invaluable
fundraising for Trocaire." The Moville group are now
well on their way to reaching their target of €1,000
for Bolivia. In Bolivia, 64% of the 9.8 million
population live in poverty, rising to 70% in rural
areas. The UN has warned of an acute food crisis
there due to crop loss from floods and . "You still
have time to donate to the
Moville Fast, so why not log on now," added
Trish. |
