Alcohol awareness workshop in
Moville
27.02.09
THE Moville Community
Alcohol Project will host a workshop next week to
encourage parents and children to talk about drink
and drink-related harm. The workshop entitled
'Talking About Alcohol' will be co-ordinated by
David Simpson at Moville Day Centre on Thursday,
March 5, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The Moville Community Alcohol Project has been
working in the town for eighteen months. It now has
a drop-in evening for young people, a drama, two
drama groups, an outdoor pursuits course and other
activities. |
|
It has also development
a unique concept - The Family Conversation - to
encourage local families to talk about alcohol.
David Simpson said the concept has been used by
about 50 families in the town.
"It gets children and parents talking together about
what they think about alcohol. The families that
have used it say that they learnt new things about
their children and what they think and know," he
explained. The 'Talking about Alcohol’ workshop will
include a quiz about alcohol, relevant facts and
figures and a |
chance to explore
issues around alcohol.
To book a place, please contact Mary McKinney on 074
93 85548 or David Simpson on 074 93 81224. All
welcome. |
