ARTLINK has announced
an exciting new initiative for young Inishowen
people interested in becoming involved in the visual
arts.
'The Ways of Seeing' scheme is the first of its kind
in Donegal and is open to local teenagers between
the ages of 15 and 19 years.
It is a youth led contemporary art initiative to
enable young people engage directly with art by
collaborating with artists, taking more
responsibility in creative decision making and
increasing their knowledge of creative industries.
Artlink will work with up to 20 young people on a
twice monthly basis to develop their interests and
in some cases practice, across a wide range of art
forms. Over the next six months, Artlink education
and outreach co-ordinator Cróna Lynch will work with
the group. "First we need to find participants,"
said Ms Lynch.
"Participants will be responsible for steering the
project by drawing up a mission statement, and aims
and objectives for their group. They will gain
knowledge, enabling them to collaborate with artists
and arts workers and they will have an opportunity
to experiment with many art forms, decide on
relevant group trips, as well as visiting artists in
their studios." |
