BREASTCHECK will be
introduced to County Sligo in March 2009, it's been
announced.
Co-operationg for Cancer Care NorthWest (CCCNW)
welcomed the announcment which was published in
BreastCheck's programme report for 2007/08.
The statement reads:“It is the intention of
BreastCheck to introduce screening to women living
in County Sligo in March 2009.”
CCC(NW) spokesperson Noelle Duddy said the
announcement was "good news" for the women of County
Sligo.
"We wish them well and encourage all women of
eligible age to attend their appointment for a
mammogram when contacted by BreastCheck.
"This service has been very slow in coming to the
North West, but by March Tubbercurry will be the
first area in the North West to receive BreastCheck
which has the potential of saving women from dying
from breast cancer."
Ms Duddy said CCC(NW) remained optimistic that by
Summer both Leitrim and Donegal would also be
availing of BreastChecks services.
"The roll-out of BreastCheck is now beginning in the
North West, thank God," she added. |
