Bogle's last waltz in Culdaff

ACCLAIMED singer
songwriter Eric Bogle will play his last ever Irish
gig at McGrory’s of Culdaff on July 18 as part of
the 21st Earagail Arts Festival. Famed for songs
including 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda' and
'The Green Fields of France', Bogle emigrated from
Scotland to Australia in 1969. He married and
settled there but has toured extensively over the
last 25 years. |

“A compulsive, almost
obsessive songwriter for most of his adult life,
Eric has written some songs that have pretty much
become Australian classics of the genre,” said
festival artistic director Paul Brown.
“He’s a perceptive, compassionate individual, a wry
and engaging performer and a songwriter who cuts to
the heart of the matter with well-crafted lines."
Bogle's songs have been recorded by, among many
others, Joan Baez, Mary Black, Donovan, Slim Dusty,
John Williamson, Billy Bragg and The Pogues. He
himself has recorded 14 CDs and, together with his
long term musical partner John Munro, has literally
