Frocksrock team up with children's
charity
04.12.09
NORTH West fashion
label Frocksrock has launched a specially tailored
partnership to help children and young people with
cancer. They will be supporting children’s cancer
charity CLIC Sargent with a number of fundraising
initiatives throughout the year, including donating
money from the sale of their funky clothes and
matching rag doll.
The partnership was launched at a quirky fairy cakes
tea party recently where Frocksrock directors,
Nicola Cole and Angelo Callaghan celebrated with
representatives from CLIC Sargent. Brenda Shankey
whose sister was diagnosed with leukaemia at just
two years old, hosted the party.
“When my little sister was two years old she was
diagnosed with leukaemia and cancer of the spine -
my family was devastated,” says Brenda. “As we lived
in Derry, a two hour drive from the hospital, my Mum
had to give up her job and move to Belfast to stay
with my little sister. |

“I was 13 at the time
and had to grow up quickly, experiencing the impact
that cancer has on a family, and I will never forget
how tough it was and the shock of cancer happening
to someone so young. CLIC Sargent helped my family
through this traumatic experience with practical and
emotional support and that is why I’m supporting
this worthy cause and giving something back,” said
Brenda.
The Frocksrock team have been designing and selling
girls clothing and matching dolls for over two
years. Director Nicola Cole says, “We are delighted
to be joining CLIC Sargent in partnership. We met
with the charity’s team in Belfast and were really
impressed with the much-needed help and support they
offer to children and young people with cancer, and
their families."
