€40,000 windfall for local groups

FOUR well known
organisations yesterday shared a windfall of nearly
€40,000 in grants from Donegal County Council.
Inishowen Community Radio received €10,500; the
Colgan Hall committee received €6,800; Fort Dunree,
€10,000 and Ballyliffin Golf Club, €10,000. The
allocations were made under the Development Funds
Initiative. |
This is a funding
source from Donegal County Council to support
economic, social, cultural, heritage and various
related initiatives. Council led projects, community
groups and the organisers of festivals and social,
economic, cultural and heritage events are all
eligible to apply. County Development Board partner
organisations and any other |

group demonstrating a
bona-fide role in supporting community, social,
economic or related development may also be eligible
for consideration.
The cheques were presented yesterday in Carndonagh
Public Services Centre by Inishowen Electoral Area
chairman Councillor Bernard McGuinness.
A breakdown of the monies show that ICRfm received
its grant to purchase a mobile training/broadcast
unit while the Colgan Hall allocation will be put
towards buying a CCTV system, alarm repair and the
installation of porthole windows and a door
fanlight. Meanwhile, Fort Dunree military museum and
exhibition space received its grant towards
electrical ancillary works while the €10,000
allocated to Ballyliffin Golf Club will be spent on
the fencing of the shoreline boundary.
