THE new service launched four months ago by
Inishowen Development Partnership is providing a
vital link to the main towns and villages of the
peninsula for people living in isolated rural areas. IDP says the service was introduced in an attempt to
make life easier for the rural dweller. |
"Rural transport aims
to give people who have no access to their own
transport a choice and as one passenger said ‘our
independence’," said a spokesperson.
Services commenced last November between isolated
areas and the larger hubs such as Buncrana, |

Carndonagh and Moville. An evening service from the
peninsula to Derry to accommodate students and
people wanting a night out has also been added. The
newest addition is a Monday service leaving
Inishowen at 6am to arrive in Letterkenny in time to
connect with buses departing to Dublin at 7am. A
return trip from Letterkenny at 9pm (approx) on
Monday and Friday evenings has also been added. A
new service from the Illies and Aghilly to Buncrana
every Friday is also on the timetable.
Inishowen Rural transport also offers a ‘door to
door’ service for anyone who lives close to the
routes but are unable to make the connection.
