“We know that local
shops have suffered owing to the strength of the
euro against sterling and because of this we have
made a conscious decision to only use local shops
and some from Letterkenny,” said Liam Gill, one of |
the organisers behind
the event.
“We want to provide a platform for emerging
designers to be seen alongside established designers
and retailers, and where fashion uses its pulling
power to shed light on two worthy causes.”
Penney’s, Benetton,
Identity, Jack and Jones, Edel MacBride will be
among the exhibitors on the night, and the main
sponsor is Letterkenny Shopping Centre.
In addition to the best from this season’s
international fashion trends as displayed by local
designers and retailers, the final of an ‘Extreme
Makeover’ competition will be held. The competition
will see three local women have their image made
over by Zissors by Sonya, Hairess and HAIRapy as
well as pampering from the Seagrass Wellbeing Centre
and the Inishowen Gateway Hotel.
“A lot of hard work has been put into this show to
ensure the audience gets a great night out,” said
David McConnell, chairman of Buncrana GAA club and
member of the event organising committee. “At €15
the ticket is exceptional value and every member of
the audience will receive a goody bag with products
sponsored by Nivea.”
Buncrana GAA plans to embark upon a programme of
continuous improvement for people with special
needs. “The aim of the Buncrana GAA special needs
programme will be to work in partnership with other
agencies and organisations to enhance the physical
health and social well-being of people with a
disability, whilst simultaneously promoting social
inclusion through participation,” McConnell said.
“The club intends to expand and further develop this
important work and our vision is to include and
involve all those who have an interest in the sport,
regardless of ability.”
“We would encourage parents to take part in our
sessions because the club belongs to everyone in our
community and it’s a place were one can feel safe
and secure,” McConnell concluded.
