FOUR lucky people have
finally claimed the whopping €2m Lotto jackpot won
in Buncrana two days after Christmas.
The four arrived at Lotto HQ on Friday to pick up
what must have been the biggest cheque of their
lives. But it seems the speculation in Buncrana and
further afield will never end as the four asked for
their identity to remain secret.
People in the area are now scratching their heads to
recall if a friend or neighbour took a mysterious
weekend trip out of town last Friday.
Whether the winners were a family or syndicate,
male, female or both is unclear. Indeed, the winners
were described by Lotto HQ as "a group of four from
Donegal" - so it's not even certain that they hailed
from Buncrana...or Inishowen for that matter.
What is certain is that the winners bought their €4
Quick Pick ticket at SuperValu, Buncrana, on the day
of the draw - December 27. And it's also certain
that they are each now half-millionaires.
According to a Lotto HQ press release, the following
is how the group reacted to their win: “We are so
delighted and very happy with our win especially as
we are regular Lotto players,” said one. “Stunned is
how I would describe how I feel,” added another. “It
hasn’t sunk in at all yet and we have made no plans
what to do with our winnings." |
