Doherty emerged as the leading light representing
Northern Ireland in the recent British Home Nations
University Championship. |

He was part of the
eight-man NI University team who defeated Scotland
in the final at Galgorm Castle. He was also
confirmed as Player of the Tournament, after carding
5.5 points from a possible 6. This accolade was
bestowed after a vote by the team managers. The
local man's outstanding performance has now earned
him selection to the five-man Irish University Team
