week
23.03.09
INISHOWEN food and
furniture producers are being invited to an exciting
networking event in Letterkenny this Wednesday,
March 25. Food expert Peter Ward will co-host a
workshop called 'Future Trends in Food' as part of
the Enterprising Donegal Business Week 2009.
Meanwhile, Donegal furniture maker Eugene Doherty
and furniture expert Peter Brennan will also co-host
a workshop at the event in the Radisson Hotel. |
“We’re delighted Peter
has agreed to be keynote speaker for this year’s
workshops,” said Donna McFadden, Design Network
Manager for the Design Directorate. “His knowledge
of the food sector is unmatched. Together with
Eileen Bentley, Eugene and Peter Brennan, this
year’s panel of guest speakers is one of the
strongest we’ve ever assembled."
A regular television food commentator, Peter Ward
recently made an appearance on the Late Late Show
when he passionately advocated a return to buying
local produce from small-scale food producers. |

He is also former
chairman of Bord Bia’s Taste Council and will be
joined on the day by Eileen Bentley, manager of Bord
Bia Small Business. Eileen has previously held
senior management positions with Sainsbury's in
London and Nestlé Nespresso in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Peter Brennan’s career in the wood and
furniture industries spans almost 45 years, and in
the second workshop he will be looking at the latest
trends in wood design and furniture production. He
will be joined by Eugene Doherty of Doherty Crafted
Kitchen and Furniture Makers Killybegs. Eugene set
up the firm with his brother Sean in the mid-1990s
and the company has built up a local and national
reputation for high-end, custom made kitchens and
furniture.
