Quarterdeck for The Plaza 03.07.09

QUARTERDECK - one of Donegal's most seminal 1980s bands - are reuniting for a gig in Buncrana next Friday as part of the Earagail Arts Festival.
Featuring Buncrana drummer Laurence Doherty, the band was formed in 1980 and was heralded as one of the country's finest jazz-funk bands. Their new line-up two decades later will see Maeve Dunphy fronting the group for this very special concert in the Plaza.
The band will also appear with The Stunning in Letterkenny on Saturday, July 11. Meanwhile, McGrory’s of Culdaff will host a number of Earagail Arts Festival events including an already sold-out gig with Mary Black. Inishowen’s own Henry Girls will play a free event with the Casablanca-based Gawa Fusion at the Persian Bar in Carndonagh on Wednesday, July 8. Other festival treats for Inishowen include “The Jack Tales” by the authentic Appalachian musician and storyteller Jerry Harmon – at Carndonagh Library on Wednesday, July 15 (admission free). The Children’s Art Festival in association with Artlink, runs from July 6 to July 17 at Tullyarvan Mill, Buncrana.
Inishowen Gospel Choir fans can see them perform with Moya Brennan and special guests at An Grianán Theatre in Letterkenny on July 18 and don’t miss the Inishowen Carnival Group leading the Festival Parade in a feast of colour and sound in Letterkenny on Sunday, July 12.
