Moville culture landmark under repair 16.02.09

COUNCILLOR Marian McDonald has congratulated everyone working on the repair of a cultural landmark on the Moville shore green.
Moville's White Wall, described by Cllr McDonald as a "local icon" collapsed last year due to the expanding roots of nearby trees.
A engineer's survey of the wall highlighted its poor state of repair and fears it would collapse altogether. Repair work finally started on the wall last week.
"I am delighted to see the repair work underway. The White Wall is an icon of Moville as on view from Donaghey's Brae. Anyone coming back on holidays feels at home once it is on view.
"Thanks to the North East Inishowen Development Company who have sponsored FÁS; Stephen Flynn, Donegal County Council engineer; FÁS

development officer Michael Gillen and supervisor Liam Mc Dermott, the wall is almost complete," said Cllr McDonald.
"I also would like to also say a big thank you to overseer Pat McColgan and workers John Crumlish and Hugh Canning on the repair of part of Moville Sli na Slainte route. This popular route is a favourite of young and old. "This collapsed recently owing to the turbulent weather conditions, high seas and high winds and following my representations, Donegal County Council acted immediately. I'm delighted the route is now safe once again”, concluded Cllr Mc Donald.
