Gardai revisit Burns' murder scene 20.02.08

Gardaí investigating the murder of Andrew Burns in Donnyloop yesterday reissued their appeal to the public for information about the killing.
Yesterday, one week on from Mr. Burns' murder, investigating officers revisited the scene near St Columba’s Church in the Donegal border village.
Gardaí mounted a number of checkpoints in the area and spoke to members of the community to gain more information about what happened that evening. They also asked people to fill out questionnaires in order to prompt recollections of the night of the murder.
There are a number of specific appeal points on which Gardaí are anxious to gather information. They asked people whether they recall any of the following details:
*Were they in the Waterfront Bar Strabane between 6.30pm and 7.30pm?
*Did they travel on the Main Street, Strabane, between 6.45pm and 7pm and did they see Andrew Burns going into his apartment?
*Did they observe any vehicles travelling between the Fern area and Donnyloop between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
Gardaí are working in close co-operation with their colleagues in the Police Service of Northern Ireland who will also engage with the public to find out more about the hours leading up to Mr. Burns' killing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lifford Gardaí on 074 9141000 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111. People can also call to the mobile incident command centre which is at the scene at Donnyloop Church.
