NEARLY 40,000 customers
in Donegal including Inishowen have been left
without broadband internet access today due to a
major eircom broadband transmission failure.
Homes and businesses were left without online
communications after the eircom fault occured
shortly before lunchtime. Service was still not
restored by late evening. Eircom spokesperson
Dearbhaill Rossiter told InishowenNews.com the
problem was due to a "major transmission fault".
She said the exact nature of the fault was not known
and crews throughout the county were still
investigating the problem late into the evening.
The blackout has affected the entire county and
included areas such as Letterkenny, Falcarragh,
Ardara, Castlefin, Carndonagh, Moville, Greencastle
and Buncrana.
Affected businesses included shops selling lotto who
had to turn away customers looking to buy tickets
for Friday's EuroMillions and Saturday's €10 million
roll-over jackpot.
InishowenNews.com were also among those hit. We had
to revert to dial-up connection to bring you this
update. |
