Buncrana
18.03.08
TWO non nationals were
seriously injured at the weekend when they were
struck by a car in Buncrana. The accident happened
around 3.40am on Saturday on the Causeway (Cassy)
Road. It's understood the victims, a male and a
female aged 26 and 27, were in a group of three when
they were struck by a car. The third person was
uninjured. A Garda spokesperson said the driver of
the vehicle, a local man in his 70s, stopped and was
interviewed at the scene by Gardai. The victims were
taken to Letterkenny General Hospital but their
injuries are not believed to be life threatening. |
Later that day, two
Carndonagh teenagers had a miraculous escape when
their car left the road, plunged into a field and
burst into flames.
Garda Sergeant John O'Keeffe said the teens, aged 17
and 18, were lucky to escape with their lives,
judging by the condition the car was in following
the accident. |

The incident happened
on Saturday afternoon around 12.30pm on the
Carndonagh Mountain Road at Carrowhill, Drumfries.
"It appears the driver lost control of the car and
it went over the ditch and into the field," said
Sgt. O'Keeffe. "Just after the occupants got out of
the car, it caught fire. The local Fire Brigade was
called and they put out the fire," he explained. The
teenagers managed to walk away from the accident
with only a few minor cuts and bruises. |
