Three injured in Greencastle crash 26.08.08
GARDAI are
investigating a single-vehicle crash in Greencastle
on Sunday night in which three teenagers were
injured, two seriously. The accident happened around
9pm at Lower Drumaweir when the car rounded a bend
heading in the direction of Greencastle village and
struck the stone-clad wall of a private residence.
Sections of the wall were demolished such was the
severity of the impact. |
A large crowd of young
friends of the victims gathered at the scene just
minutes after the crash. The collision sparked a
major emergency as Gardai from nearby Moville, two
ambulances and NowDoc personnel attended. The road
was closed to traffic for |
|
several hours. Shocked
eyewitnesses said the teenagers were lucky to escape
with their lives. Buncrana Garda Inspector Daniel
Sweeney confirmed yesterday that three male
teenagers, aged around 17 and from Redcastle,
Greencastle and Culdaff, were travelling in the
vehicle when it hit the wall. All three were taken
to Letterkenny General Hospital, two with serious
injuries and one suffering minor injuries. |
