Grieving Inishowen families seek
closure

HEARTBROKEN father Patrick Quinn whose son Darren
was one of the five young local people killed in the
terrible crash in Quigley’s Point in 2005 said
yesterday that the families who had lost their loved
ones, just wanted some closure. “We want some
closure, we want to be able to move on, we want to
find out what happened, maybe everyone won’t want to
know, but I do and I think it will help us move on.” |

Mr. Quinn’s comments
came during a question and answer session at
yesterday’s press conference in Buncrana where the
local community were praised for their terrific
support for the grieving families.
“The community has been brilliant. They were
fantastic at the time and even today we have
received such support from them,” Annette Duffy,
Gavin’s mother said.
Showing tremendous strength and composure, Mrs.
Duffy who had read from a statement on behalf of the
families, said the time of the crash still seemed
“just like yesterday,” for the grieving relatives.
“Maybe for others it seems like a long time ago, but
for us it seems like yesterday. There are so many
reminders. Every time birthdays, anniversaries and
parties come along, they are on our minds more than
ever.”
Describing their five children as young people who
were looking forward to a terrific future, Mrs.
Duffy said she drew some consolation from the fact
that they had all passed away together. The five
local families called on the Director of Public
Prosecutions to make a decision on the outcome of
the investigation into the crash. |
