A VITAL service for
victims of domestic abuse in Inishowen is being
urged to snap up funding before the cut-off point at
the end of January.
Inishowen Women’s Outreach based in Carndonagh
provides victims of domestic and other crime with
support, comfort and information.
Funding of €1.33m is currently available from the
Commission for the Support of Victims of Crime but
applications from crime support groups must be
received by January 31.
Moville-based Senator Cecilia Keaveney said eligible
groups were those providing support measures to
victims of sexual violence, domestic violence, human
trafficking and crime in general.
Organisations that benefited last year include the
Rape Crisis Network, Crime Victims Helpline, One in
Four, Ruhama, Support After Crime, Support after
Homicide, and the Federation for Victim Assistance.
“There are so many organisations, particularly the
Rape Crisis Network, the Donegal Women’s Refuge and
the Inishowen Women’s Outreach that provide
invaluable support to victims of crime in Donegal.
They are worthy of every assistance the Government
can give them," said Senator Keaveney.
The Commission was established by the Government in
2005 in an attempt to strengthen the supports
available to victims of crime and ensure they are
treated with the dignity and respect they are
entitled to. |
