Classical recital at Tullyarvan Mill 10.11.08

CLASSICAL music lovers can look forward to a unique recital at Tullyarvan Mill, Buncrana later this month.
The Prey Trio, in association with Inishowen-based composer John McLachlan, will perform a concert for wind instruments featuring music by Bach, Mozart, Britten and Reich.
The recital - part of the Da Capo series - will include pieces specially written by Quigley's Point-based McLachlan for the Prey Trio. The work was designed for, among other instruments, piccolo, flute, alto, bass flute and oboe. It was commissioned with Arts Council assistance in 2005 and composed by McLachlan at Cross, Quigley’s Point, in 2006.
McLachlan is from Dublin and lives in Redcastle with his wife Helen Haughey who is native to Inishowen.

He is a leading Irish composer whose music has been performed all over the world. He is also the director of the Association of Irish Composers, which is the all-Ireland union for composers of contemporary classical music.
The Prey Trio: Susan Doyle, Sile Daly and Deirdre O’Leary. The Prey Trio are: Susan Doyle (flutes), Sile Daly (oboes) and Deirdre O’Leary (clarinets). All three are leading players on the contemporary classical music scene nationally and internationally, and perform with the RTE orchestras and in various chamber groups.
Da Capo is an Inishowen-based committee, supported by the
Arts Council and Donegal County Council, that promotes classical music in the peninsula. The concert takes place on Saturday, November 22, with tickets priced at €12 or €8 (concession). You can contact 087 2259858 for bookings.
