Moville tunes up for DylanFest '08 19.05.08

BOB DYLAN fans at home and abroad are gearing up for the second DylanFest on the Lough in Moville.
A number of top tribute acts from Ireland, Germany, France and Italy to name but some, are booked for the four-day Dylan extravaganza in July and the Foyleside town is looking forward to the arrival of even more visitors than first time around.
Event founder Gerry McLaughlin said he believed DylanFest 2008 was going to be a huge success not least because of the longer run-in time to get the music festival organised.
The Chris Winters Band playing at last year's DylanFest. “There's a great buzz about Moville as the DylanFest gets nearer and the townspeople are looking forward to giving their national and international visitors a great welcome."
He said one of the main draws was the fact that the festival encompassed the whole town unlike most of the other seven Dylan festivals in the world.
"Most others are indoors, in
single locations, either in pubs or halls whereas the Moville DylanFest is the only multi-event and multi-venue festival." There will be music in eight pubs, up from six last year while there will also be outdoor music on the gig rigs.
Among the bands booked to play over the four days from Thursday, July 3 to Sunday, July 6, are the eight-piece Phantom Engineers, Ireland's top Dylan band; the five-piece German outfit Pet Tommy And The Brokenhearts and Italy's Slow Train Band.
The Phantom Engineers' John Carragher said following the inaugural outing last year, many eager fans had asked him if Moville DylanFest was running again in 2008.
"This year's DylanFest is going to be huge. Moville's a great location for it with its salmon fishing sea lough, its countryside and the fact that all the pubs and restaurants are either on or just off the main square. It was sensational playing in the Malin Road last year," he said.
