Rain limits
overtaking opportunities for Moville driver

to move back into contention in the Porsche Supercup
series. The Moville driver was denied a prestigious
first win in Monte Carlo by Dutch racer Jeroen
Bleekemolen. |
The pole-starter paid

remarking ‘Damien was obviously faster, but never
did an unfair manoeuvre to get past me.’
Because of heavy rain on the morning of the event,
the race was started behind the safety-car and
later, instead of the planned 16 laps it was
shortened to a 35 minutes |
|
distance.
Starting from second on the grid Faulkner an
enormous pressure on last year’s winner Bleekemolen.
On lap four Bleekemolen makes a mistake but the
Moville race, who had his own problems holding off
third placed Uwe Alzen. |

Faulkner kept up the
pressure on Bleekemolen, but couldn’t force a way
through on the streets of the principality, which
are notorious difficult for passing.
The result leaves Faulkner in 3rd position on 64
points, 12 points back from joint leaders Jan
Seyffarth and Bleekemolen.
Speaking afterwards the Lechner Racing team driver
said he was |
happy with he result.
“It’s great to finish on the podium in Monte Carlo,
but to miss the win after being so close is a bit
hard to take. But I’m happy for everybody in the
team, they have worked so hard to get us back on the
podium.
Starting behind the safety car It was not the norm,
a bit bizzare, but because of all the rain, we
thought there was going to be some kind of rolling
start and it was probably the right decision,” said
the 33 year old.
The next stage of he Porsche Supercup takes place at
Magny Cours in France on June 22. |
