Film director finds 'heaven' in
Inishowen
20.05.08
THE award-winning film
director Vic Sarin yesterday described Inishowen as
"heaven on earth".
Sarin and crew were shooting a scene yesterday at
the old schoolhouse in Cooley, near Moville, for his
new movie 'A Shine of Rainbows' starring Aidan Quinn
and Connie Neilsen.
The team has been filming for about a week and,
almost miraculously, the weather has remained sunny
and dry. |
"Things are excellent,
excellent. I came here last August for the first
time and I met with the Council people especially
Aideen Doherty and I was delighted with the kind of
co-operation we got and the response from all the
local people.
"And of course the countryside is so beautiful. Look
at this, this is heaven on earth," he said, |

surveying the glens of
Cooley with the deep blue Foyle in the distance.
"We've been having great weather, we are very
fortunate," he said, joking that he had been
visiting Inishowen's churches to say a few prayers.
He said the consistently good weather meant that, so
far at least, filming was on schedule.
And he had great words of praise for the local
acting talent, plucked from all over the county
including the peninsula.
"The local actors are excellent because they are
real. When you play yourself, nobody can beat you,
you are what you are." And what of his major actors,
neither of whom were on set late yesterday
afternoon.
"So far I have not done that many scenes with Aidan
but Connie has done quite a few scenes and they're
wonderful. Connie and Aidan are both very happy here
and of course Aidan is the Irish boy," he
added.
