SINN Fein has urged the
people of Donegal to be vigilant to cutbacks taking
place at Letterkenny General Hospital.
Senator Pearse Doherty said the move would affect
patient care and would be "accelerated" over the
summer months. |

He said cuts proposed
at Letterkenny General Hospital would be replicated
elsewhere and he urged the Donegal public to “be
vigilant in defence of threatened hospital
services”.
“Management at Letterkenny General Hospital are
proposing to close a 20-bed ward and to |
scale back the services
provided in the Day Service Unit for a number of
weeks in August," said Senator Doherty.
"This may include closing the day service unit for
up to a fortnight."
Senator Doherty said he had "no doubt" that the HSE
was planning cuts for hospital across the State.
"This is on top of the ongoing drive to centralise
the hospital system and to strip local hospitals of
services.
“We will not see the full extent of health cutbacks
until after the Dáil goes into summer recess. People
need to be vigilant in defence of threatened
hospital services. Public pressure is needed to
oppose these cuts.” |
