INISHOWEN Community
Radio's popular Sunday Sports Show is taking a break
for the summer.
The 3-hour live programme, which has been running
since last October, has proved a great success with
the local sporting community and will be back in its
usual slot come September. While the Sunday Show is
off-air for the next couple of months Inishowen
sports will not be neglected as a special one-hour
sports programme Sportstime will go out on Mondays
and Fridays at 4pm. |
Station manager Jim
Doherty explains the changes. "The decision to
reschedule was not easy but under the circumstances
we had little option. The main idea behind the
programme is that it be as 'live' as possible, with
reports from games and events and interviews with
sports people as they happen.
"In the summer period the sports schedules have
changed with little live action on a Sunday
afternoon. |
|
Even now in the GAA
season, very few games take place on a Sunday
afternoon with many played on Saturdays and
evenings. There would be little point in presenting
a live show on Sunday when most of the material on
it would be pre-recorded."
The Sunday Sports Show surpassed all expectations at
the station and demonstrated the great interest that
exists for local sports in Inishowen.
"One of the most gratifying things about the show is
the involvement of local sports people and local
media.
"We have excellent contributors and their enthusiasm
and knowledge is what makes the show so good. We're
certainly looking forward to getting the show back
on live in September and getting that energy back on
stream".
