Website smashes 450,000 hits a
month 29.04.08
InishowenNews.com
celebrates first anniversary
THIS website, InishowenNews.com, is celebrating one
year in operation.
The site went live last Spring and has grown rapidly
from just a couple of hundred visitors to more than
11,000 readers a month and rising. The number of
hits to the site is now over a whopping 450,000 a
month.
InishowenNews.com was started by Buncrana-born
journalist Linda McGrory and her husband, website
designer Brendan Deehan. |
|
They are delighted
their daily updated news, photographs, sport and
community notes have been such a big hit with the
local community and people living abroad.
“We're absolutely thrilled with the response we've
had in our first year,” said Linda. "Our readership
just keeps growing. What's even more rewarding is
that the people who find us are staying loyal to us
and are |
logging on regularly.
We're delighted to be part of their day.”
A former reporter with 'The Irish Examiner' and
former Inishowen editor of the 'Derry Journal',
Linda is a member of the National Union of
Journalists (NUJ).
“People of all ages are logging on to us and they're
getting in touch to let us know how much they enjoy
the site. We couldn't be happier with the response."
The Buncrana woman also thanked all the team at the
'Inishowen Independent' newspaper for their ongoing
collaboration and support.
InishowenNews.com is well designed and easy to
navigate thanks to the hard work and technical
expertise Brendan brings to the site.
It carries daily updated headlines, features, death
notices, community notes and photographs, along with
a rapidly expanding Business Directory.
Brendan says the site is uniquely placed to help
Inishowen businesses promote their products and
services online particularly with the increasing
availability of broadband in the peninsula. Brendan
thanked all the businesses who continue to support
the website and looks forward to many more local
companies joining the Business Directory.
InishowenNews.com has just invested in a direct mail
marketing campaign through An Post. As part of this
campaign, homes and businesses around the peninsula
will get a card through their door telling them
about the website and the peninsula’s very own
online Business Directory.
"We are uniquely placed to offer local businesses an
immediate online presence within a website that is
viewed by more than 11,000 readers a month. If
businesses have their own website, we can drive more
traffic to it while for those new to the internet,
we offer an affordable way of getting online," added
Brendan. |
