While there has been no
comment as yet from the consortium believed to be
behind the proposals, InishowenNews.com understands
the plans are at an early and delicate stage.
Ballyliffin is one of Donegal's busiest tourist
locations due to the award-winning golf course and
other major attractions such as Doagh Famine
Village. The famine museum which converts to a
winter wonderland for children at Christmas had a
whopping 50,000 visitors in 2007.
Proprietor Pat Doherty yesterday said while he did
not know the details about plans for the former
Pollan Beach Hotel, he said another luxury hotel
would be a welcome addition to the area's tourism
product.
"We've got great feedback about the Ballyliffin
Lodge and Spa and people who have stayed there have
told us they would come back and stay there again.
"People these days expect a very high standard of
accommodation at a competitive price and that's what
the Lodge offers. Hopefully, any new hotel for
Ballyliffin would provide the same value," said Mr.
Doherty. |
