AN Inishowen men's
group is organising a unique series of evenings to
help non nationals including Polish and Latvian to
integrate into the local community.
The visitors are being invited to bring samples of
their native food to the integration events being
organised by Moville Men's Group.
The group's organiser David Simpson said he hoped
the Community Integration Project would encourage
local men to go along and tell the visitors about
local history, culture and Irish food.
“Good community relations are built on people
learning about each other's cultures and customs.
There is a long tradition in Ireland of welcoming
people. This project is a modern version of that
tradition," he said.
Moville Men’s Group was set up to help men to access
community or adult education and to address the
needs of men in Moville.
It has been running for two years and holds evening
meetings with talks and health workshops with a core
group of fourteen men ranging from men in their
fifties to the oldest at 92.
The Community Integration Project is being supported
by the Community Foundation for Ireland and the help
of the Inishowen Development Partnership’s immigrant
integration development worker.
The first evening will focus on the Polish community
and will held this Friday, May 9. A second talk on
Latvia will take place on Monday, May 12. All talks
will take place in Moville Day Centre starting at
7.30pm. All men very welcome. For more information
