Donegal on its marks for Olympics
29.01.08
DONEGAL County Council
has produced a promotional brochure as a "calling
card" to more than 400 Olympics-related groups
around the world.
The brochure was launched last week along with a
Donegal Olympic Response Team as part of the
campaign to promote the county as a destination for
pre-games training camps prior to the London 2012
Olympic Games. |
Donegal Mayor, Cllr.
John Boyle said he was delighted to launch the
campaign.
"It will see Donegal being promoted to over 400
sporting organisations throughout the world as an
ideal location for pre-games training camps for the
London 2012 Games," he said.
The new Donegal Olympic Response Team will provide a
first point of contact for enquiries for prospective
teams while the Council will also work closely with
the Donegal Sports Partnership in co-ordinating |

familiarisation visits
to the county.
Meanwhile, the new promotional brochure profile
Donegal’s appeal in terms of accommodation, access,
transport, culture training facilities, medical
supports and broadband-telecommunication services.
Cllr. Boyle added: “I would like to wish this
initiative every success in its endeavours to
capitalise not only on the economic opportunities
that London 2012 presents but also on securing a
positive legacy for sport in Donegal.” |
